| Becoming
the Voice for Girls
“Advocacy is the legacy we leave for
the Girl Scout movement.”
Since its founding 1912, Girl Scouts of the
USA has offered girls an unrivaled opportunity
to develop strong values and contribute to
society as a leader, thinker and responsible
citizen. Today, Girl Scouts continues to be
a leading voice and steadfast advocate for
and with girls.
Girl Scouts is a premier voice for girls
and a leading expert on their development.
Together with committed adult volunteers,
who partner with girls to guide and inspire
their growth and achievement, the organization
builds girls of confidence, courage and character
who make the world a better place.
More than 50 million women living in the
United States were members of Girl Scouts
during their childhood. Girl Scout membership
is now at more than 2.9 million girls and
950,000 adults - 99 percent of whom are volunteers.
