Challenge Awards!

 

The Girl Scout Challenge can be earned by Brownie and Junior Girl Scouts and Girl Scouts ages 11-17. When girls take the challenge, they explore the values and leadership skills that are the heart of Girl Scouting: courage, character, confidence and the ability and desire to make the world a better place.

The activities are designed to engage girls in discovering key Girl Scout values, building leadership skills and taking action by applying these values and skills to their everyday lives.



Brownie Girl Scouts engage in:

  • Working with others
  • Sharing
  • Trying new things
  • Following directions
  • Being a friend
  • Clarifying their values
  • Having an increased awareness of adults and peers outside of the family
  • Gaining awareness through helping
  • Celebrating similarities and differences

When taking the Challenge, girls will:

  • Take time to reflect
  • Expand their horizons by partnering with different adults or working with other groups of girls
  • Experience a "By Girls For Girls Approach" and have choices on the activities they do
  • Have Fun

Junior Girl Scouts engage in:

  • Clarifying their values
  • Feeling competent
  • Pursuing their own identity
  • Identifying and managing stressors
  • Speaking up for themselves
  • Serving as a role model
  • Developing initiative - the capacity to get things done
  • Thinking critically
  • Setting goals
 

Girl Scouts 11-17 engage in:

  • Possessing a positive attitude towards change
  • Being comfortable making decisions
  • Being accountable to others
  • Identifying needs in their world
  • Setting goals
  • Creating plans
  • Mobilizing others to implement plans
