Since 1980, the Girl
Scout Gold Award has been the highest
honor Girl Scouts 14-17 years old
can achieve. To receive this award,
girls must meet requirements that
help them prepare for, and complete,
a special project benefiting their
communities. The Gold Award project
enables girls to explore their personal
and career interests as they work
on self-improvement, leadership, service
and commitment to the community. The
Girl Scout Gold Award is the culmination
of a girl's experience in Girl Scouting
and provides an opportunity for her
to use all the skills she has developed
and to fulfill a need in the community.
Either locally or globally, the project
creates change in the community and
also empowers the girl and her community.
Girls can "go for the gold" individually
or as a group, but each girl must
be responsible for a specific part
of the project and must evaluate her
participation as an individual and
a member of the group. |
