AMERICAN
RED CROSS CPR/FIRST AID
|
In Girl Scouting, the term
“first-aider” applies to an
adult who has taken a Girl Scout Council
approved CPR and First Aid training course,
and whose certification cards are current.
“The CPR training must be adequate
for the participants in the activity covered
by the first-aider; for example, child CPR
for children younger than eight and adult
CPR for older girls and adults.” Safety
Wise p. 36. All currently licensed RNs,
EMTs and medical doctors qualify as “first-aiders.”
Morris Area Girl Scout Council approves
of First Aid and CPR courses that are delivered
by The American Red Cross (ARC,) The American
Heart Association (AHA) and the National
Safety Council (NSC). Please note that the
time frames for expiration are different
by course. All of the approved First Aid
courses are valid for three years, however,
the American Red Cross CPR certificate is
valid for one year, while the AHA and NSC
CPR cards are valid for two years.
As a service to adult volunteers, MAGSC
offers American Red Cross training sessions.
If the dates and times offered are not convenient,
you may contact the American Red Cross directly
at 973-538-2160 (the Morristown office)
or at 973- 377-0455 (the Madison office)
to sign up for a course.
