Camper Certification, Part 1 & 2 (formerly
Module 2A&B) prerequisite Overnight
Orientation
Troop Camper Certification is a two-part
course. Part 1 is a three-hour planning
session for Part 2. Skills, planning, safety
and outdoor cooking methods are covered.
Part 2 is a seven-hour outdoor experience
that covers the use of propane stoves, fire
building, outdoor cooking, camping skills
and hiking.
Requirement: One adult volunteer per group
of up to 30 girls is required to take this
two-session course when planning the following
activities:
• Campfires in the out-of-doors
or in indoor fireplaces.
• Camping when meals are not provided,
and the troop or leader will be cooking
using the following methods of cooking:
propane stove, butane, tin can, charcoal
stove, solar cooking, wood fires, or hibachi.
• Camping at campgrounds on your
own (not as part of a community encampment)
• What to Bring:
Please bring Safety Wise and Outdoor Education
in Girl Scouting to Part 1.
• What to Wear:
Please wear comfortable shoes and dress
for the weather when attending Part 2.
Troop Camper Certification, Part 1 &
2 must always be taken together. You will
be part of a patrol formed during Part 1
and this patrol will work together during
Part 2. These modules may NOT be mixed and
matched.
